Construction Inspection Letter
Mr. Bromberg:
The City of Yelm was received a call for inspection of your site on Tuesday September 26, 2006. When we visited the site, we found the following discrepancies:
The concrete curb and gutter on 2nd St was not installed per plan. The curb cuts were missing.
The concrete alley access was constructed 15’ wide instead of 10’ wide.
The contractor/owner had painted the asphalt area to be paved but it did not match the approved plans.
The water meter boxes did not appear to meet City requirements.
After reviewing the discrepancies and meeting with Public Works about possible solutions the follow recommendations are issued.
The curb cuts may be installed by saw cutting the curb and gutter. However the saw cutting must be completed in a manner that is acceptable to the City. If this can not be accomplished
then the curb and gutter must be removed and replaced with the curb cuts installed at the time concrete pouring. Curb cuts must be 20’ o.c.
By relocating the alley the stormwater area becomes smaller and will not met the approved design. The concrete alley driveway access can remain as constructed if the engineer of record
or another engineer is able to relocate or certify that the stormwater will not over top to proposed stormwater area.
The water meters will need to be repaired and reinspected by the water department. When completed the water department should contact the Community Development Department.
When these concerns have been addressed and approved by the inspector then the City of Yelm would approve the contractor to begin paving the public right of ways. If you have any questions
or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at jimg@ci.yelm.wa.us or 360-458-8438.
