040200 Construction Comment Letter2 100406 City of Yelm Community Development Department 105 Yelm Avenue West P.O. Box 479 Yelm, WA 98597 October 4, 2006 Bob Bromberg 13224 83rd Ave E Puyallup, WA 98373 RE: Discovery Counseling – SPR-04-0200-YL Construction Inspection Letter Follow Up Mr. Bromberg: I received you faxed response to my letter dated October 3, 2006. I believe that there is some miscommunication about what I was referring to in the letter. In the letter I stated: The concrete alley access was constructed 15’ wide instead of 10’ wide. The contractor/owner had painted the asphalt area to be paved but it did not match the approved plans. When the alley access was built 15 feet wide instead of 10 feet wide you now are directing the traffic into your stormwater/landscaping area. You held the south edge of the alley and constructed a 15’ wide alley access. By doing so, cars using the alley will drive directly into the stormwater/landscaping area. This is not acceptable. Yes the parking lot was painted on the ground as proposed on the plans however by modifying the alley access you have made the design unsafe for vehicles. In the previous letter I suggested that you contact your engineer to see if the stormwater area can be modified to allow you to use the alley access as you have constructed it or the other option is to remove the alley access and construct it according to the approved plans, at 10 feet in width. We will wait to here from your engineer or you with a proposed solution before we schedule another inspection of the site. When these concerns have been addressed and approved then the City of Yelm will approve the contractor to begin paving the public right of ways. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at jimg@ci.yelm.wa.us or 360-458-8438. Community Development Department Respectfully, Jim Gibson P.E.
