What you are proposing may not be acceptable. Please refer to our Development Guidelines, Chapter 4 for parking lot requirements. The parallel stall will not be acceptable. Our minimum stall size is 8 1/2' x 20'. I spoke with Gary Carlson our building official about the handicap stall. He said that the one stall must be van accessible, which requires a total of 16 feet. It may be in your clients best interest to use the alley for access. All parking areas located adjacent to any private street or public street right-of -way shall provide a minimum five-foot planted buffer strip between the parking area and the private street or public Right-of-Way. Backing Out Prohibited. In all commercial and industrial developments and in all residential buildings containing five (5) or more dwelling units, parking areas shall be so arranged as to make it unnecessary for a vehicle to back out into any street or public Right-of-Way.
