Dear Paul:
The original approval for the above referenced site was for a 48 unit apartment complex. For residential developments over 25 units, two accesses to a collector street is required.
Based on preliminary information submitted to the Community Development Department, the proposed construction of storage units would most likely not require a secondary access. A traffic
impact analysis study would be necessary to confirm this requirement.
The Vancil Road access to this property, as well as the gated access through the parking lot, is a “fire access lane” for the Safeway store. This access must be preserved for emergency
vehicle access at all times. Options for gated emergency access may be explored during civil plan review.
