ORDINANCE NO. 722
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF YELM, WASHINGTON, READOPTING
ORDINANCE NO. 675 TO REFLECT THE MOST RECENT (1997) EDITION OF
BUILDING CODES INCLUDING THE UNIFORM BUILDING, FIRE,
MECHANICAL AND PLUMBING CODES INCLUDING FEE SCHEDULES
ESTABLISHED IN EACH PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, on November l0, 1999, the City Council passed Ordinance No. 675 adopting the
1997 Uniform Building, Fire and Mechanical and Plumbing Standards in compliance with State law, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 675 was adopted only after a study producing findings demonstrated
that adoption of more recent codes was in the best interests of the City of Yelm and its citizens, and
WHEREAS, Initiative Measure 722 declared ordinances relating to taxes and fees adopted
between July 2, 1999 and December 31, 1999 to be void and of no effect. Therefore, it is necessary to
readopt the provisions of this Ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE,
follows:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE C[TY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM, WASHINGTON, as
Section 1. Ordinance No. 675, a copy of which is attached, is hereby readopted in its entirety.
Section 2. Severability. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, or phrase of this
ordinance is declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. Effective Date: This ordinance shall become effective on and after December 6, 2000
