758 Establish the City's Appointment of MayorCITY OF YELM
ORDINANCE N0.758
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Yelm, Washington, establishing the City's appointment
of a mayor pro tempore.
WHEREAS, RCW 35A.12.065 authorizes the City Council to designate one of their
number as mayor pro tempore for such period as the Council may specify, to serve in the absence
or temporary disability of the mayor; and
WHEREAS, the Council wishes to clarify its authority and decision regarding the
appointment of a mayor pro tempore;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Yelm, Thurston
County, State of Washington, as follows:
Section 1. A~~ointment. A mayor pro tempore shall be appointed from among their
membership by a majority of the City Council members at the first meeting of the
newly elected Council at the beginning of each biennium, commencing January 1,
2002.
Section 2. Successor. If at any time the appointed mayor pro tempore shall be unable or
unwilling to serve or to continue to so serve, then a successor mayor pro tempore
shall be appointed by the remaining City Council members in the same manner and
such successor mayor pro tempore shall serve the remainder of such term.
