Re: Landscaping Comments for Prairie Park Building E
Dear Barbara:
The City's Urban Forester has completed his review of the landscape plan for Building E, Prairie
Park and has the following comments:
Yelm Development Standards, Page 4-38 & 39 state that parking area design
requires a minimum of forty percent of the trees shall be evergreen. The plan
submitted is a ratio of 90 percent deciduous and 10 percent evergreen. The City is
somewhat flexible on this requirement, but would like you to evaluate the parking
area landscaping to achieve a slightly higher percentage of evergreen trees.
2. The 21 Hebe `Glaucophylla' as shown on the Plant Schedule- L10.04 is not cold
hardy for our zone. Suggested substitutions include Senecio Grayii or a mounding
form of Heath, Heather or a Dwarf Japanese llex `Green Island', `Green Thumb'
or `Helleri.
Please make the recommended changes and return one blue line copy and one Mylar of the
revised plans for final approval and signature. Blue lines can be substituted for the Mylar,
provided all plan sets distributed by you contain the City's approval stamp. If you have any
questions please contact me at (360) 458-8408.
Sincerely,
Catherine Carlson
