Re: Request for Chain link Fencing for the Yelm Extension School at
103 SE First Street
Dear Mr. Birkland:
On November 16, 2001, you contacted the Community Development Department with a request to install chain link fencing on your property line. The approximate location would be between
your building and the City of Yelm’s railroad right-of-way and to continue behind Gorders Auto Rebuilders.
At this time chain link fencing is not an approved material. The City of Yelm’s Design Guidelines addresses the approved materials that may be used in this instance. Page 52 section
k. states, “Prohibited materials – The following materials are prohibited in prominent locations visible from the frontage street.
Mirrored glass
Corrugated fiberglass
Chain link fencing (except for temporary purposes such as a construction site).
There are other fencing options available in the Design Guidelines. If you would like to utilize another type of fencing please contact us with the specifications and we can consider
other options.
If you have any questions or concerns I can be contacted at (360) 458-8438 or Cathie Carlson at (360) 458-8408.
Sincerely,
Jim Gibson
