WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2007
1. Mayor Harding called the Meeting to Order at 6:45 pm
2. Present: Don Miller, Joe Baker, Pat Fetterly. Mike McGowan, John Thompson and Russ Hendrickson
Staff: Shelly Badger, Stephanie Ray, Grant Beck, Tim Peterson, Maryam Olson, Todd Stancil, Tanya
Robacker, Lori Mossman and Janine Schnepf.
3. Agenda Approval—Agenda was approved.
Mayor Harding reported that he attended the 2nd annual 2007 Governor's Smart Communities Award's
Ceremony with Shelly Badger and Grant Beck where the City of Yelm had submitted an application for
consideration.
4. Presentations
Mayor Harding opened the session by introducing the 2008-2012 Budget Forecast described as ultra-
conservative. Shelly Badger added thanks to the staff for the budget work done and to Tanya
specifically for the inter-active tools she made available that proved to be helpful.
a. 2008-2012 Budget Forecast Topics were provided for review of the Current Fund. Budget estimates
were based on historical data from 2000-2006, current fund assumptions for future years and overview
of the current fund revenue and expenditures for 2007.
b. 2007 Revenue Update. Tanya provided a review of the revenue received through the end of August,
stating that the overall totals received are consistent with the estimates for the 2007 year.
5. Mayor/Council Initiatives
City Intern Program Update. Mayor Harding reviewed the proposed Yelm Student Support&Success
YeSSS), a work experience/internship program.
Councilmember Baker continues to encourage the preservation of the downtown Water Tower.
