ORDINANCE NO. 606
AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE amending the 1997 City of Yelm Budget,
Ordinance No. 588, Appendix II, by authorizing the employment of a temporary Public
Works Assistant I employee.
WHEREAS, vacancies in the public works department have created a backlog of
projects; and
WHEREAS, City Council is committed to the continued efficient operation of all
City departments for the public good; and
WHEREAS, statute permits the enactment of an emergency ordinance to provide
for the protection of public health, public safety, public property or the public peace;
NOW, THEREFORE, The city council of the City of Yelm do ordain as follows:
Section 1. The immediate hiring of a temporary Public Works Assistant I is
authorized.
Section 2. Said position shall continue through the remaining 1997 budget year.
Section 3. Salary for the temporary Public Works Assistant I shall be $1,500.00 per
month.
Section 4. This position shall be excluded from receiving employee benefits as per
the City of Yelm Personnel Policies Handbook (Res. 257, 7/92).
Section 5. Effective Date. This emergency ordinance shall be effective immediately
upon its passage by a majority plus one vote of the Yelm City Council
