Dear Ms. McCarthy:
Attached is a Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance issued to Yelm Community Schools for the construction of a new High School in Yelm near the Twin County Credit Union Yelm Branch.
One of the conditions of the MDNS is that the developer will be responsible for improvements to Yelm Avenue (SR507) in the form of a center turn lane extending 250 feet from the High
Schools eastern entrance.
This improvement will be very near the frontage of the Credit Unions Yelm Branch. When the Credit Union obtained site plan review approval in 1996, half street frontage improvements
were required along the Credit Unions frontage on Yelm Avenue. These required improvements were deferred at the time of construction, but will now be required in order to connect the
frontage improvements being installed by Yelm Community Schools.
The School District is now in the process of designing their street improvements for review by the City and State Department of Transportation. The City has encouraged the District
to coordinate improvements with the Credit Union, and would encourage you to do the same with the District.
If you have any questions regarding the MDNS or frontage improvement requirements, I can be reached at 458-8408 or by stopping by City Hall.
Sincerely,
Grant Beck, Director
Department of Community Development
