Dear Jerry:
The City of Yelm has reviewed the proposal to participate in roadway improvements to Yelm Avenue West (SR 510) in order to extend the improvements required by Yelm Community Schools
as part of the High School remodel project and by Twin County Credit Union as part of required frontage improvements.
Specifically, the proposal would create a left turn lane from 93rd Avenue to the eastern boundary of the Credit Union’s property with tapers at both ends and would include ‘full frontage’
improvements (curb, gutter, sidewalks, and a planter strip) along the frontages of the High School, Moose Lodge, and Credit Union. The City’s share of this project would be:
Sidewalks across the Moose Lodge frontage.
Full street improvements from the eastern entrance to the Moose Lodge to the eastern property line of the Moose Lodge.
Partial half street improvements on the north side of Yelm Avenue from the eastern property line of the Moose Lodge to the eastern property line of the Credit Union.
The Engineer’s estimate for construction only for these improvements is $92,600.00.
After discussion with the Yelm Transportation Committee, the City is willing to proceed with the shared improvements to the transportation system provided that the final agreement includes
the following elements:
The City will contribute a total of $125,010.00 towards completion of the total project as described in your letter of October 15, 2004, including the exhibits and
details attached to that letter. The City’s total contribution equals the estimated construction costs ($92,600.00), 30% of construction for engineering ($27,780.00) and 5% of construction
for administration ($4,630.00).
The City will not increase it’s contribution if costs are higher than estimated.
The City will not contribute if the project is not completed as described in the October 15 letter.
The City’s participation is subject to entering into a written agreement with Yelm Community Schools, Twin County Credit Union, and Jerome Morissette & Associates which outlines the
terms of the City’s contribution and describes the work to be complete
The City’s participation is subject to approval of a budget amendment by the City Council to earmark the City’s contribution in the 2005 budget.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me at 458-8408 during normal business hours.
Sincerely,
Grant Beck, Director
