Recl Water Condition 001Memo To: Grant Beck, CDD From: Stephanie Conners CC: File Da4e: 3/17/2004 Re: Yelm High School -Condition of Land Use Approval Grant, After review of the proposed improvements at Yelm High School, staff would like to request that a condition be added to the land use approval, requiring the high school to connect to the city's reclaimed water line. The city has a reclaimed water capital improvement project planned, installing a reclaimed water line from Edwards Street to Yelm High School. The reclaimed water line would connect to the back easterly comer of the property (along the current potable waterline easement) and would be available for connection to the high school's irrigation system. This connection would realize substantial potable water savings to the city and the community as well as allow a financial savings to the high school. Per Yelm Municipal Code 13.24.050 Section L "Upon application by a developer, owner or water customer (herein referred to as "applicant") for land use approval, or other development project as defined by this code, staff shall review the facilities plan and subsequent reclaimed water comprehensive plan and make a preliminary determination whether the subject property is required to be served with reclaimed water or to include facilities designed to accommodate the use of reclaimed water in the future. Based upon such determination, use of reclaimed water and provisions of a reclaimed water distribution system or other facilities for the use of reclaimed water, and an application for a user agreement for such use shall be required as a condition of approval of any such application, in addition to any other conditions of approval." Staff has determined that the amount of potable water consumption at the high school warrants connection to the reclaimed water system. If you require anything further in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact me. G:\Recltimetl Wate~\RWIineH.S\Memo~emplffie.tlac • Page 1
