Inc. 1700 Cooper Pt. Road SW #B-2 Olympia, WA 98502 RE: Yelm High School Addition and Modernization Engineering Review No. 1-1 City of Yelm Project No. SPR-03-8362-YL Dear Mr. Tauscher: The following comments are a partial review of the plans submitted for approval. This letter has the remaining first review comments for the above listed project. The letter dated June 14, 2004 and this letter will complete the first review. The following are comments that need to be addressed on the plans before the next submittal. Storm Plans: Is the Vortech system designed to operate with the additional backwater that will be forced into the treatment device because of the elevations of the infiltration gallery? It is understood that the City of Yelm will be receiving the shop drawings for approval before the Vortech system has final approval for installation. All catch basins will need to have oil/water tees installed. These should be in the catch basins before the treatment system. All the test pits went to a depth of 8 feet. The gallery depth is designed at 13 feet. What is the water table depth? Any catchbasins over 5’ in depth from invert to grate should be a type 2. The City of Yelm requires a min slope of 0.50% on storm water pipes. You have demonstrated that the backwater condition and conveyance can still be met, so we will allow to shallower pipe slopes. This design will require additional maintenance to clean the pipes and catchbasins. This storm water system has not been approved for any portion of the SR 510 frontage improvements. The frontage will be reviewed under another submittal. It does not appear that the “bus access” from 93rd St has any water quality treatment for the stormwater. This will be required for this area. Conditions of Approval: Please provide a response letter stating how the conditions of approval have been met for the land use approval. If all the conditions have not been met this will hold up the review process. One of the items we are still looking for is the phasing plan for the entire project. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call or contact me by email at jimg@ci.yelm.wa.us. Respectfully Community Development Department Jim Gibson Development Review Engineer
