petition letter M E M O R A N D U M City of Yelm Community Development Department To: Sunnyland Estates Property Owners From: Grant Beck, Director of Community Development Date: January 26, 2005 Subj: Annexation Petition Denny Balascio (Yelm Property Development) has petitioned the City of Yelm to annex a 10 acre parcel of land located directly north of Sunnyland Estates into the City of Yelm. The City Council reviewed this request on December 8, 2004, and authorized Mr. Balascio to circulate the petition for annexation with the provision that Sunnyland Estates be included in the potential annexation area. The reason’s for including your development in the potential annexation is to make a more logical City boundary rather than create a peninsula of County land surrounded by the City. Also, as you know, the City currently provides some urban services (water) to Sunnyland Estates. In order to proceed with the Annexation, Mr. Balascio will need to collect the signatures of either 60% of the property owners based on the value of the property OR 50% of the property owners by gross area and 50% of the registered voters. Included with this letter is information regarding City services and a postage paid postcard which indicating your interest in the potential annexation. If you have any questions regarding annexation or City services, please don’t hesitate to contact the Community Development Department.
