Dear Mr Beck:
I am a new resident to Yelm. I love that I now live in a place that is
simple and quiet. I have made many sacrifices to obtain my property here
and I am now gravely concerned about the Highlands proposal that will
greatly impact my quality of living.
Yelm has a huge traffic problem. How can this development be put in
without consideration to the increased traffic load? The idea of going
up 93rd will cut through people's property who live here for the peace
and solitude. Besides, it is my understanding that the city already owns
property on the 507 and 510 for access should this be needed.
Additionally, the EIS for this project is INCREDIBLY long. I thought by
State law that these were to be limited to150 pages? The Highlands EIS
doubles that and it is written as if Alan Greenspan wrote it. Therefore,
as a resident, I am unclear about what it says and cannot speak about it
in an informed way.
What has been done about water and sewage issues? 2 million gallons of
waste water per day? Just where is that water going? I have a well and
I do not want my water or my neighbor's wells being sullied.
. People move to Yelm for the quality of life that being in the country
brings. I do not see much action on the suburban type living already
built here. Do we really need more?
It does not seem that this has been thought through. The time for money
making projects being implemented without thought for future
consequences is behind us, sir. Our Earth is in great struggle because
of this way of thinking.
