On February 20, 2018 I performed a site visit to 207 Mckenzie Ct. and spoke to the neighbor who resides at 208 Mckenzie Ct. She informed me of a squatter living in the residence, a broken
back window allowing access, overgrown lawns on all sides of the residence, and large missing gaps in the rear fence.
Due to the lack of a rear fence students from the local high school have been using the property as a short cut through the neighborhood and trespassing on the neighbor’s property.
I contacted the property owner who is Capital One Bank and alerted them to the city’s concerns. I expect some remedy from the building owner in a timely fashion which will eliminate
the hazards associated with the property.
I fully intend to follow up with the bank, and if I don’t observe improvements within 10 business days I will contact the owner again.
If necessary the City of Yelm will abate the property by boarding it up and the abatement costs will be passed on to the homeowner.
