Summation of Communications with King Cronic
February 14, 2018 – John Rowland and I performed a courtesy in store visit requesting the removal of the temporary banner sign located above the front door, and along the side of the
building. We informed Tim Cronk that 4 two week special events are allowed, outside of that permanent signage is required per YMC.
March 27, 2018 – The first notice addressing the temporary banner signs is sent requesting their removal and the placement of permanent signage. This is also our first Notice of Violation
referencing a pole sign located off the property whose sign panels, (not advertising his business) had been hastily painted black.
April 2, 2018 – Upon driving through town I noticed three street trees illegally cut down and the stumps being routed out at the direction of Tim Cronk. These trees once stood adjacent
to the pole sign fronting the outer perimeter of the business’ property.
April 10, 2018 – A $750 ($250 per tree) fine is issued to Tim Cronk for the illegal removal of the three street trees.
April 23, 2018 – A replanting plan is submitted by Greg Cronk illustrating the areas and dimensions of where the three street trees are to be replaced. A review is performed on the
submitted plan and the corrections are returned to Greg Cronk.
May 16, 2018 – A second notice of violation is sent to King Cronic informing him that the blacked out sign panels on the pole sign will need to be replaced. A phone conversation also
takes place with Greg Cronk relaying to him that the 3 street trees need to be replaced in a timely manner.
June 8, 2018 – A third notice is sent to King Cronk conveying the demand to replace or repair the panels blacked out with paint. This notice also contains a second communication about
the temporary banners and the demand he replaces them with permanent signage.
June 27, 2018 - A second notice of violation is sent to King Cronic making him aware that the city still requires he replace the three illegally removed street trees.
July 17, 2018 – The fourth notice of violation is sent to Tim Cronk in reference to his temporary banner signage. A $250 fine is imposed as well as a Letter of Action is sent to him
by City Attorney Brent Dille.
July 23, 2018- A Third Notice of Violation is sent to Tim and Greg Cronk alerting them of the urgency to replant the three illegally removed street trees.
July 31, 2018 – A phone conversation took place with Greg Cronk in which he informs me of his intention to replant the three trees removed by Mid- September.
August 16, 2018 – A letter is sent to Tim and Greg Cronk summarizing our July 31st phone conversation and a deadline of September 17, 2018 is defined.
September 20, 2018 – The First Notice of Violation letter is sent to the Cronk Brothers informing them that the window banners in Suite A, located two doors down from the King Cronic
marihuana store, cannot be used to advertise a business separated by another unrelated business. A deadline of September 26, 2018 was given.
Current State of Affairs –
At this time the three illegally removed street trees have not been replaced.
Banner signs in Suite A remain despite a demand they be removed no later than September 26, 2018 by 5PM.
Permanent signage has been securely fastened to the building front and the temporary banners on the front and building sides have been removed.
The $750 fine imposed on Tim Cronk was paid to the City of Yelm on 4/24/2108.
The $250 fine for the temporary banner signs has been waived since said violation was in fact corrected.
