RE: Motor Homes as a Residences- 1201 Crystal Court NW
It has come to the City of Yelm’s attention that a motor home is located on your property and is being used as a permanent residence along with the addition of a second motor home. Within
the city limits of Yelm, a motor home or Recreational Vehicle is not allowed to be used as a residence and is a violation of the Yelm Municipal Code.
“Recreational vehicle” means a vehicle which is:
1. Built on a single chassis;
2. Four hundred square feet or less when measured at the largest horizontal projection;
3. Designed to be self-propelled or towable by a light-duty truck; and
4. Designed primarily not for use as a permanent dwelling but as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, travel, or seasonal use.
If these vehicles are in fact unlicensed and/or inoperable the following Yelm Municipal Code reference applies.
10.20.010 Time limits.
No “unlicensed and/or inoperable motor vehicle,” as such term is defined in RCW Title 46, shall be stored on any premises within the city for a period exceeding 30 days, unless the same
is stored within an enclosed structure. Violations hereof shall be attributed to the owner or owners of record of the real property. (Ord. 367 § 1, 1990).
All vehicles deemed a violation of the Yelm Municipal Code shall be removed from the property on February 21, 2019 by 5PM. After this time the City of Yelm will be forced to further
code enforcement action including but not limited to the issuances of civil penalties of up to $250.00 per violation, per day of violation, and possibly further enforcement through
court of competent jurisdiction.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me at (360) 458-8407.
Sincerely,
