8353 Sewer letter 090204 City of Yelm Community Development Department 105 Yelm Avenue West P.O. Box 479 Yelm, WA 98597 August 27, 2004 Norm Goodrum SCA Design Build 4200 6th Ave SE Suite 301 Lacey, WA 98503 RE: Yelm Terra – Sewer Testing Procedure and Valve Replacement City of Yelm Project No. SUB-03-8340-YL Dear Norm: This letter will supercede any letters that may have been written prior to this date concerning the sewer check valve failures and sewer main testing procedure. After having numerous meetings and discussions about the suspected KBI check valve failures, the following procedures will be necessary to meet the City of Yelm’s requirements for acceptance of this STEP sewer system. The sewer system will need to be retested and the failed services/valves located and recorded on a map. After all testing is completed and the exact numbers of failed services are known, these will need to be repaired. The City will provide an inspector for verifying the test and testing procedure. The City will also provide an inspector to be present when all valves are removed from the services. This inspector must be present when the valves are replaced. If the check valve removed, is missing parts of the flapper , the main and service will be flushed in an effort to locate all the missing parts. After all valves have been replaced the system will need to be tested as per the Development Guidelines requirements. All replacement parts, materials, equipment and labor will be at your expense. By presenting this letter to you, it outlines the exact process that we are expecting you to use to resolve this situation. If you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at (360) 458-8438.
