10 24 2007 Letter regarding Occupancy
City of Yelm

October 25, 2007
Sherlita Kennedy, Manager
Yelm Wal-Mart
17100 SR 507 SE
Yelm, WA 98597
Sherlita:
This letter is a reminder that the Yelm Wal-Mart is currently operating without a certificate of occupancy in violation of Chapter 15.08 Yelm Municipal Code and Chapter 19.27 RCW State
Building Code. Specifically, the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy issued by the City of Yelm on August 10, 2007, expired on September 1st as the final construction punchlist items
in the City’s letter dated July 9, 2007, had not been met at that time.
On September 13, Alan Seay requested an extension to the temporary certificate of occupancy, to which I agreed subject to a schedule for the final date for completion of all the remaining
punchlist items, which was never provided.
At this time, all punchlist items need to be finalized immediately by Wal-Mart. Towards that end, all documentation listed in the final punchlist, which is listed below for your ease
of use, needs to be submitted no later than October 31, 2007. Documentation includes final approval of SR 507 by WSDOT and 103rd by Thurston County. A fixed schedule for the painting
of the light poles and chain link fence must be submitted along with the documentation. As Bird Construction has twice indicated to the City that this work has been authorized by Wal-Mart,
but has still not been constructed, the schedule should be short and dependant only on the weather.
The first Temporary Certificate of Occupancy was issued for the Yelm Wal-Mart on July 17, 2007. If the punchlist is not complete in a very timely fashion at this point, the City will
have to consider posting the building do not occupy.
Sincerely,
Grant Beck, Director
Community Development Department
