The Yelm Community Development Department would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the City of Yelm. Attached is a brochure published by the City that includes many commonly
needed contact numbers for your information and use.
As you may already be aware, the land use approval for this site includes some specific conditions that were met during construction, and others that are to continue after the store
is open and operating. I have included a copy of the land use approval for your review, however want to point out some specific items of which you should be aware.
A noise mitigation plan was submitted to the City, and the sound wall on the north and east perimeter of the site was a mitigating measure required by that plan. Another mitigation
measure required as part of the land use approval and the mitigation plan was that the exemption in the State Noise Code for back-up beepers between 7 PM and 7 AM does not apply to the
Yelm Wal-Mart. Please keep this in mind when you receive off-hour deliveries.
Another requirement of the permit approval was that there be no outdoor storage or display of merchandise which is not screened from public rights of way or adjacent residentially zoned
properties. There is a screening wall for outdoor displays in the southwest corner of the building pad for seasonal displays. The use of shipping containers or trailers for the storage
of merchandise is not allowed.
Finally, the land use approval does not allow overnight recreational vehicle parking on the site.
