The pictures reflect what I expected to see when they started digging it out. Cutting out the upper crust of cemented material and removing any construction debris such as concrete will adequately prepare the subgrade for installation of the pervious asphalt. Once the area with the loose material is rolled and compacted, it will also provide an adequate base for the pervious asphalt. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please don’t hesitate to give me a call. Cordially, Clint Pierpoint ________________________________ From: Steve Harrington [mailto:steveh@ci.yelm.wa.us] Sent: Tuesday, June 23, 2009 3:57 PM To: Clint Pierpoint Subject: Pics of concerned rock area @ TT Multi-Family Housing Pakring Lot Clint- It appears that the area that looked like concrete was compacted fines on top that formed a crust nearly 3” deep. When Roger excavated the area it would easily crumble up. I have attached pictures illustrating this along with pictures of the material that appears to closely resemble concrete. I could step on these large chunks and they would crumble to fines again. Roger is going to ex through this material to break it up. All the rock underneath is all good as you can tell from the pics. Roger will also remove the loose boney rock material from the far end and rework that area. Let me know what you think of this.
