The Department of Ecology (Ecology) reviewed the application notice and has the following comment(s): FLOODPLAINS: Kevin Farrell (360) 407-7253 If the footprint of any structures associated with this development encroaches into the Federal Emergency management Act (FEMA) delineated floodplain of Thompson Creek, the project proponent shall be required to establish the Base Flood Elevation for the entire project area per National Flood Insurance Program regulations found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) at 44CFR Part 603(b)(3). We suggest the project proponent consider restoring the flood carrying capacity of Thompson Creek by removing invasive blackberry, canary grass, and other non-native species. Please ensure all requued permits ace obtained if this is an activity you wish to undertake. Ecology's Floodplain Management Program would be happy to consult with the applicant on restoration activities. Please contact us at (360) 407-7253. If contamination of soil or groundwater is readily visible, or is revea?ed by testing, Ecology must be no±ified.
