ISO-6 Module ISO-6 Isolator Module Addressable Devices General ISO-6 Six Isolator Module The ISO-6 Six Isolator Module is an automatic switch that opens when the line voltage drops below four volts. Isolator modules should be spaced between groups of sensors or spaced with modules in a loop to protect the rest of the loop. The standard 4" and 6" bases offer a plug-in detector base intended for use in intelligent systems, with screw terminals provided for power (+ and —), and remote annunciator 8300-6 Standard 6" B20OS-WH Sounder connections. Communication takes place over the power (+ and —) lines. The 4" base offers a Base (White) Base (White) compact design while the 6" base provides compatibility with a wider range of junction boxes. The specialty bases support application driven requirements. These bases employ a separate mounting plate that installs on various junction box sizes to eliminate unsightly surface - mount boxes. The mounting plate enables pre -wiring of all connections to speed and simplify installation. Relay bases (B224RB-WH/B224RB-IV) provide one form -C contact relayfor control of auxiliary functions, such as door closure and elevator recall. The relay can operate in two different modes (short and long delay). The activation time forthe short delay is 60-100 milliseconds, while the activation time for the long delay is 6-10 seconds. A shunt with pin headers, located on the base PC board, is used to setthe delaytiming. Isolator bases (B224B1-WH/B224B1-IV) allowthe Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) loop to operate under fault conditions created from a short circuit preventing an entire communication loop from being disabled. The base isolates the section of the loop containing the short circuit from the remainder of the circuit and automatically restores when the fault is corrected. Sounder and low frequency (-LF) sounder bases are designed for new and existing dwelling unit applications. They offer maximum flexibility in installation, configuration, and operation to meet or exceed UL 268 and UL 464 requirements. The low frequency sounder bases are designed to meet the NFPA 72 sleeping space requirementto produce a fundamental frequency of 520 Hz +/-10%with a square wave or its equivalent. Studies show that a lower frequency, centered around 520 Hz, is the most idealto wake sleeping occupants, even those with mild to severe hearing loss. FEATURES AND BENEFITS • Bases enable quick and secure detector • Standard white color with ivory and black plug-in • SEMS Screws provide easy wiring connection • UL 268 compliant • Support for 12-24 AWG provides installation flexibility • Multiple base formats meet application requirements options • Mechanical locking feature restricts removal of attached sensor head • Specialty Base Features: • Pre -wired mounting plate simplifies installation • Application driven feature sets B501 -WHITE Fla ngeless B501 -BL Flangeless 4" Base (White) 4" Base (Black) • Sounder bases both UL268 and UL464 compliant Honeywell ® l The B200S sounder and LF sounder bases (B200S-WH/B200S-IV/ B224RB-IV: Ivory, relay base B200S-LF-WH/B200S-LF-IV) adopt the same address as the B224BI-WH: White, isolator detector base detector, but use a unique device type on the loop. The Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) can use that address to command an individual sounder — or a group of sounders — to activate. The command set from the FACP can be tailored to multiple event - driven tone outputs allowing selection of volume (75 or 85 dBA), tone (ANSI Temporal 3, ANSI Temporal4, or March Time) and group. In addition, some FACPs will enable custom tone patterns. The B200S series sounder bases recognize the System Sensor synchronization protocol. This enables them to be used as a component of the general evacuation signal — along with other System Sensor AV appliances — when connected to a power supply or FACP output capable of generating the System Sensor synchronization pulses. The B200SR sounder and LF sounder bases (B200SR-WH/ B200SR-IV/B200SR-LF-WH/B200SR-LF-IV) are fully compatible with existing B501BH Series sounder base installations. The device enables users to select one of two B501 -supported tones (ANSI Temporal 3 or Continuous) through a jumper. Features • SEMS screws for easing wiring • Panel controlled status LED (except M501 M) • Analog communications • Rotary address switches (except M500X) • Low standby current • Mounts in standard 4 -junction box Agency Listings LISTED APPROVED Monitor and control modules can be used to supervise and activate sounders, strobes, door closers, pull stations, waterflow switches, conventional smoke detectors, and more. Each module is rigorously designed and tested for electromagnetic compatibility and environmental reliability, in many cases exceeding industry standards. Modules are addressed with easy-to-use rotary code switches. Full size modules mount in standard 4 in x 4 in x 2'/8 in junction box. Wiring terminals are easily accessible for troubleshooting. M500M Monitor Module, M501 M Mini Monitor Module, and M500DM Dual Input Monitor Module System Sensor monitor modules provide an interface to contact devices, such as security contacts, waterflow switches, or pull stations. M501 M and M50ODM are capable of Class B supervised wiring to the monitored device. M500M is capable of Class A supervision. Conventional 4 -wire smoke detectors can be monitored through their alarm and trouble contacts, wired as an initiating loop to the module. In addition to transmitting the supervised state of the monitored device (normal, open, or short), the full analog supervision measurement is sent back to the panel. This allows detection of impedance changes in the supervised loop to the monitored device. The M500DM module is capable of monitoring two separate Class B circuits simultaneously, making it ideal for waterflow tamper switch and flow switch monitoring. The compact size of the M501 M module allows it to fit inside devices or junction boxes behind devices. The M500X Isolator Module is an automatic switch that opens when the line voltage drops below four volts. Isolator modules should be spaced between groups of sensors or modules in a loop to protect the rest of the loop. If a short occurs between any two isolators, then both isolators immediately switch to an open circuit state and isolate the devices between them. The remaining units on the loop continue to fully operate. The number of devices that can be installed between isolator modules varies depending on the device type. Please see your module's manual for more information. continued M502M Zone Interface Module The M502M Zone Interface Module allows intelligent panels to interface and monitor 2 -wire conventional smoke detectors. All 2 -wire detectors being monitored must be UL or ULC compatible with the module. The M502M module is addressed through the communication line of an intelligent system. It transmits the status of one zone of 2 -wire detectors to the fire alarm control panel. Status conditions are reported as normal, open, or alarm. The interface module supervises the zone of detectors and the connection of the external power supply. M500S Control Module The M500S Control Module provides supervised monitoring of wiring to load devices that require an external power supply to operate, such as horns, strobes, or bells. It is capable of Class A and Class B supervision. Upon command from the control panel, the M500S module will disconnect the supervision and connect the external power supply across the load device. The disconnection of the supervision provides a verification to the panel that the control relay actually turned on. The external power supply is always relay 500 Series Intelligent Module Specifications Operating Voltage 15 to 32 VDC Communication Line 40 fl max. Full analog measurement of the supervised wiring is transmitted back to the panel and can be used to detect impedance changes or other special test functions. M500R Relay Module The M50OR Relay Module contains two isolated sets of Form C contacts, which operate as a DPDT switch. The module allows the control panel to switch these contacts on command. No supervision is provided for the notification appliance circuit. M500FP Firefighter Phone Module The M500FP module is intended to monitor and control a loop of firefighter phones. It has the ability to differentiate between normal, off -hook, and trouble conditions. When taken off -hook, a phone will immediately receive a ringing tone, and the panel will receive an off - hook indication. The panel can then connect that off -hook phone to the main riser for the system. Standby Current 450 pA max. Isolation Impedance 2.25 kf) to 2.9 kQ Fault Detection Delay 250 ms min. MDDS74301 • 02/15 Protectowire Linear Heat Detector Introduction Protectowire Linear Heat Detector is a proprietary cable that detects heat anywhere along its length. The sensor cable is comprised of two steel conductors individually insulated with a heat sensitive polymer. The insulated conductors are twisted together to impose a spring pressure between them, then wrapped with a protective tape and finished with an outer jacket suitable for the environment in which the detector will be installed. Protectowire is a fixed temperature digital sensor and is therefore capable of initiating an alarm once its rated activation temperature is reached. At the rated temperature, the heat sensitive polymer insulation yields to the pressure upon it, permitting the inner conductors to move into contact with each other thereby initiating an alarm signal. This action takes place at the first heated point anywhere along the detector's length. It does not require a specific length to be heated in order to initiate an alarm, nor system calibration to compensate for changes in the installed ambient temperature. Protectowire Linear Heat Detector provides the advantages of line coverage with point sensitivity. DATA SHEET Features • Line coverage... continuous sensitivity. • Eight alarm temperature ratings. • The ability to withstand severe environmental conditions. • Approval for use hazardous locations when used with required equipment. • Ease of installation, testing, and splicing. • Compatibility with other initiation devices on same circuit. • Listed for spacing up to 50 ft.
