4.WHEN STANDARD STRENGTH FILTER FABRIC IS USED, A WIRE MESH SUPPORT FENCE SHALL BE
FASTENED SECURELY TO THE UPSLOPE SIDE OF THE POSTS USING HEAVY-DUTY WIRE STAPLES AT
LEAST ONE INCH LONG, TIE WIRES, OR HOG RINGS. THE WIRE SHALL EXTEND INTO THE TRENCH A
MINIMUM OF FOUR INCHES AND SHALL NOT EXTEND MORE THAN THIRTY SIX INCHES ABOVE THE
ORIGINAL GROUND SURFACE.
5.THE STANDARD STRENGTH FILTER FABRIC SHALL BE STAPLED OR WIRED TO THE FENCE, AND TWENTY
INCHES OF THE FABRIC SHALL BE EXTENDED INTO THE TRENCH. THE FABRIC SHALL NOT EXTEND
MORE THAN THIRTY SIX INCHES ABOVE THE ORIGINAL GROUND SURFACE. FILTER FABRIC SHALL NOT
BE STAPLED TO EXISTING TREES.
6.WHEN EXTRA-STRENGTH FILTER FABRIC AND CLOSER POST SPACING ARE USED, THE WIRE MESH

8.ANY CHANGES TO THE DESIGN SHALL FIRST BE REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THE PROJECT ENGINEER AND THE CITY’S CIVIL REVIEW ENGINEER.
9.ALL STORM PIPE SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 12-INCH DIAMETER FOR MAINS AND
CROSSINGS. WHEN PRIVATE STORMWATER (I.E. ROOF, LOT OR FOOTING DRAINS)
CANNOT BE INFILTRATED ON INDIVIDUAL LOTS, THE MINIMUM STANDARD PIPING
CONNECTION TO THE PUBLIC SYSTEM SHALL BE 8-INCH PVC. THE 8-INCH MAIN

C.STAKE FINISHED GRADE OF ALL STORMWATER FEATURES, INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO CATCH BASIN/MANHOLE RIM ELEVATIONS, OVERFLOW STRUCTURES,
WEIRS, AND INVERT ELEVATIONS OF ALL PIPES IN CATCH BASINS, MANHOLES, AND PIPES THAT DAYLIGHT.
12.PIPE MATERIALS USED FOR STORMWATER CONVEYANCE SHALL BE AS APPROVED BY THE CITY. PIPE SIZE, SLOPE, COVER, ETC., SHALL BE AS
SPECIFIED IN THE CITY OF YELM DEVELOPMENT GUIDELINES AND ENGINEERING STANDARDS.
13.ALL DRIVEWAY CULVERTS SHALL BE OF SUFFICIENT LENGTH TO PROVIDE A MINIMUM 3:1 SLOPE FROM THE EDGE OF THE DRIVEWAY TO THE
BOTTOM OF THE DITCH. CULVERTS SHALL HAVE BEVELED END SECTIONS TO MATCH THE SIDE SLOPE.
14.IF DRAINAGE OUTLETS (STUB-OUTS) ARE TO BE PROVIDED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL LOT, THE STUB OUTS SHALL CONFORM TO THE FOLLOWING:
A.EACH OUTLET SHALL BE LOCATED AT THE LOWEST ELEVATION ON THE LOT, TO SERVICE ALL FUTURE ROOF DOWNSPOUTS AND FOOTING
DRAINS, DRIVEWAYS, YARD DRAINS, AND ANY OTHER SURFACE OR SUBSURFACE. EACH OUTLET SHALL HAVE FREE-FLOWING, POSITIVE
DRAINAGE TO AN APPROVED STORM WATER CONVEYANCE SYSTEM OR TO AN APPROVED OUTFALL LOCATION.
B.OUTLETS ON EACH LOT SHALL BE LOCATED WITH A 5-FOOT HIGH, 2"X 4" STAKE MARKED "STORM" OR "DRAIN." THE STUB-OUT SHALL VISIBLY
EXTEND ABOVE SURFACE LEVEL AND BE SECURED TO THE STAKE.PIPE MATERIAL SHALL BE AS APPROVED BY THE CITY.
C.DRAINAGE EASEMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR DRAINAGE SYSTEMS DESIGNED TO CONVEY FLOWS THROUGH INDIVIDUAL LOTS.
D.THE DEVELOPER AND/OR CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING THE LOCATIONS OF ALL STUB-OUT CONVEYANCE LINES WITH
RESPECT TO THE UTILITIES

TO OR LESS THAN THE STANDARD DIMENSION RATIO (SDR) OF 21, AND MEET
THE REQUIREMENTS OF WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS SECTION
9-30.1(5)B.
3.2.POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) PIPE (4 THROUGH 12 INCHES): SHALL MEET THE
REQUIREMENTS OF AWWA C900, CLASS 150 WALL THICKNESS EQUAL TO OR
GREATER THAN THE SDR OF 18, AND MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF WSDOT
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS SECTION 9-30.1(5)A.
3.3.POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) PIPE (14 THROUGH 20 INCHES): SHALL MEET THE
REQUIREMENTS OF AWWA C905 WALL THICKNESS EQUAL TO OR GREATER
THAN THE SDR OF 18.
3.4.DUCTILE IRON PIPE (DIP): DIP SHALL CONFORM TO AWWA C151 CLASS 50 OR
GREATER, AND SHALL BE 1/16-INCH CEMENT LINED AND SEALED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ANSI/AWWA C104/A21.4-90, AND MEET THE REQUIREMENTS
OF WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS SECTION 9- 30.2.(1). SIX-INCH FIRE
HYDRANT SPOOLS SHALL BE CLASS 52.
4.GATE VALVES SHALL BE RESILIENT WEDGE, NRS (NON RISING STEM) WITH O-RINGS
SEALS. VALVE ENDS SHALL BE MECHANICAL JOINT OR ANSI FLANGES. VALVES
SHALL CONFORM TO AWWA 509-80. VALVES SHALL BE MUELLER, M & H, KENNEDY,
CLOW R/W OR WATEROUS SERIES 500. EXISTING VALVES TO BE OPERATED BY CITY
EMPLOYEES ONLY.
5.HYDRANTS SHALL BE M & H RELIANT STYLE 929, MUELLER CENTURION, OR CLOW
MEDALLION OR AVK. HYDRANTS SHALL BE BAGGED UNTIL SYSTEM IS APPROVED.
FIRE FLOW TESTING SHALL BE CONDUCTED PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE.
6.ALL LINES SHALL BE CHLORINATED AND TESTED IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE
ABOVE REFERENCED SPECIFICATION (NOTE 1).
7.ALL PIPE AND SERVICES SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH CONTINUOUS TRACER TAPE
INSTALLED 12" TO 18" UNDER THE FINAL GROUND SURFACE. THE MARKER SHALL BE
PLASTIC NON-BIODEGRADABLE, METAL CORE OR BACKING MARKED WATER
2-INCH-WIDE MINIMUM, WHICH CAN BE DETECTED BY A STANDARD METAL
DETECTOR. TAPE SHALL BE TERRA TAPE "D" OR APPROVED EQUAL. IN ADDITION TO
TRACER TAPE, INSTALL 14 GAUGE HEAVY DUTY DIRECT BURY COATED COPPER
WIRE (PAIGE "UF" SINGLE CONDUCTOR OR EQUAL), WRAPPED AROUND THE PIPE,
BROUGHT UP AND TIED OFF AT VALVE BODY. ALL WIRE CONNECTIONS SHALL USE
WIRE NUTS AND A DBR SPLICE KIT, MANUFACTURED BY 3-M OR APPROVED EQUAL.
ALL LOCATOR WIRE FOR SERVICE PIPE SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE LOCATOR
WIRE ON THE WATER MAIN.
8.PROVIDE TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN(S) AS REQUIRED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MUTCD.
9.ALL WATER MAINS SHALL BE STAKED FOR GRADES AND ALIGNMENT BY AN
ENGINEERING OR SURVEYING FIRM CAPABLE OF PERFORMING SUCH WORK.
10.ALL SERVICE LINE LOCATIONS SHALL BE MARKED ON THE FACE OF THE CURB WITH
AN EMBOSSED "W" 1/4 INCH INTO CONCRETE.
11.CALL UNDERGROUND LOCATE AT 1-800-424-5555 A MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS PRIOR TO
ANY EXCAVATIONS.
12.THE CITY WILL BE GIVEN 72 HOURS NOTICE PRIOR TO SCHEDULING A SHUTDOWN.
WHERE CONNECTIONS REQUIRE "FIELD VERIFICATION", CONNECTION POINTS WILL
BE EXPOSED BY CONTRACTOR AND FITTINGS VERIFIED 48 HOURS PRIOR TO
DISTRIBUTING SHUT-DOWN NOTICES.
13.AT ANY CONNECTION TO AN EXISTING LINE WHERE A NEW VALVE IS NOT
INSTALLED, THE EXISTING VALVE MUST BE PRESSURE TESTED TO CITY STANDARDS
PRIOR TO CONNECTION. IF AN EXISTING VALVE FAILS TO PASS THE TEST, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE THE NECESSARY PROVISIONS TO TEST THE NEW LINE
PRIOR TO CONNECTION TO THE EXISTING SYSTEM OR INSTALL A NEW VALVE.
14.AFTER COMPLETION OF ALL ITEMS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS AND BEFORE
ACCEPTANCE OF THE PROJECT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN A “PUNCH LIST”
PREPARED BY THE CITY’S INSPECTOR DETAILING REMAINING ITEMS OF WORK TO
BE COMPLETED. ALL ITEMS OF WORK SHOWN ON THESE PLANS SHALL BE
COMPLETED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE CITY PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE OF THE
WATER SYSTEM AND PROVISION OF WATER SERVICE.
15.A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS AND APPLICABLE CITY DEVELOPER
SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS SHALL BE ONSITE DURING CONSTRUCTION.
16.ANY REVISIONS MADE TO THESE PLANS MUST BE REVIEWED BY THE DEVELOPER’S

MULCHING.
1.MULCH SHALL BE APPLIED TO ALL PLANTING AREAS. MULCHES
SHALL BE APPLIED TO THE FOLLOWING DEPTHS: 3 INCHES OVER
BARE SOIL, AND 2 INCHES WHERE PLANT MATERIALS WILL COVER
2.MULCH TO BE FREE OF DELETERIOUS MATERIALS AND SUITABLE
AS A TOP DRESSING OF TREES AND SHRUBS, CONSISTING OF
COMPOSTED AGED (MIN. 1 YEAR) FIR OR HEMLOCK BARK CHIPS

DIESEL FUEL, PAINT THINNER, TURPENTINE, TAR, ROOFING
COMPOUND, ACID AND OTHER EXTRANEOUS MATERIALS THAT ARE
HARMFUL TO PLANT GROWTH.
PLACING MANUFACTURED PLANTING TOPSOIL OVER EXPOSED
SUBGRADE:
1.TILL SUBGRADE TO A MINIMUM DEPTH OF 12" INCHES. REMOVE
STONES LARGER THAN 1-1/2 INCHES IN ANY DIMENSION AND
STICKS, ROOTS, RUBBISH, AND OTHER EXTRANEOUS MATTER AND
LEGALLY DISPOSE OF THEM OFF OWNER'S PROPERTY.
2.APPLY, ADD SOIL AMENDMENTS, AND MIX APPROXIMATELY HALF
THE THICKNESS OF TOPSOIL OVER PREPARED, LOOSENED
SUBGRADE. MIX THOROUGHLY INTO TOP 4 INCHES OF SUBGRADE.
SPREAD REMAINDER OF TOPSOIL.
3.SPREAD UNAMENDED SOIL TO TOTAL DEPTH REQUIRED TO MEET
FINISH GRADES AFTER NATURAL SETTLEMENT. DO NOT SPREAD IF
SOIL OR SUBGRADE IS FROZEN, MUDDY, OR EXCESSIVELY WET.
4.APPLY AND MIX TOPSOIL IN LIFTS NOT EXCEEDING 8 INCHES IN
LOOSE DEPTH FOR MATERIAL COMPACTED BY COMPACTION
EQUIPMENT, AND NOT MORE THAN 6 INCHES IN LOOSE DEPTH FOR
MATERIAL COMPACTED BY HAND-OPERATED TAMPERS.
PROTECTION:
1.IF PLANTING SOIL OR SUBGRADE IS OVERCOMPACTED, DISTURBED,
OR CONTAMINATED BY FOREIGN OR DELETERIOUS MATERIALS OR
LIQUIDS, REMOVE THE PLANTING SOIL AND CONTAMINATION,
RESTORE THE SUBGRADE AS DIRECTED BY LANDSCAPE
ARCHITECT AND REPLACE CONTAMINATED PLANTING SOIL WITH
NEW PLANTING SOIL.
2.REMOVE SURPLUS SOIL AND WASTE MATERIAL INCLUDING EXCESS
SUBSOIL, UNSUITABLE MATERIALS, TRASH, AND DEBRIS AND
LEGALLY DISPOSE OF THEM OFF OWNER'S PROPERTY UNLESS
OTHERWISE INDICATED.
PLANT MATERIAL OBSERVATION:
1.LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT MAY OBSERVE PLANT MATERIAL EITHER
AT PLACE OF GROWTH OR AT SITE BEFORE PLANTING FOR
COMPLIANCE WITH REQUIREMENTS FOR GENUS SPECIES,
VARIETY, CULTIVAR, SIZE, AND QUALITY. LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
MAY ALSO OBSERVE TREES AND SHRUBS FURTHER FOR SIZE AND
CONDITION OF ROOT SYSTEMS, PESTS, DISEASE SYMPTOMS,
INJURIES AND LATENT DEFECTS AND MAY REJECT
UNSATISFACTORY OR DEFECTIVE MATERIAL AT ANY TIME DURING
PROGRESS OF WORK. REMOVE REJECTED PLANTS IMMEDIATELY

2.DO NOT PRUNE TREES AND SHRUBS BEFORE DELIVERY. PROTECT
BARK, BRANCHES AND ROOT SYSTEMS FROM SUN SCALD, DRYING,
WIND BURN, SWEATING, WHIPPING, AND OTHER HANDLING AND
TYING DAMAGE. PROVIDE PROTECTIVE COVERING OF PLANTS
DURING SHIPPING AND DELIVERY.
PREPARATION:
1.PROTECT STRUCTURES, UTILITIES, SIDEWALKS, PAVEMENTS, AND
OTHER FACILITIES AND TURF AREAS AND EXISTING PLANTS FROM
DAMAGE CAUSED BY PLANTING OPERATIONS.
2.LAYOUT PLANTS AT LOCATIONS DIRECTED BY PLAN. STAKE
LOCATIONS OF INDIVIDUAL TREES AND SHRUBS AND OUTLINE
AREAS FOR MULTIPLE PLANTINGS.
3.DELIVERY: DELIVER PLANTS AFTER PREPARATIONS FOR PLANTING
HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND INSTALL IMMEDIATELY. IF PLANTING
IS DELAYED MORE THAN SIX HOURS AFTER DELIVERY, SET PLANTS
AND TREES IN THEIR APPROPRIATE ASPECT (SUN, FILTERED SUN,
OR SHADE), PROTECT FROM WEATHER AND MECHANICAL DAMAGE,
AND KEEP ROOTS MOIST.
4.FIELD CONDITIONS: VERIFY ACTUAL GRADE ELEVATIONS, SERVICE
AND UTILITY LOCATIONS, IRRIGATION SYSTEM COMPONENTS, AND
DIMENSIONS OF PLANTINGS AND CONSTRUCTION CONTIGUOUS
WITH NEW PLANTINGS BY FIELD MEASUREMENTS BEFORE
PROCEEDING WITH PLANTING WORK.
5.PLANT MATERIAL: FURNISH NURSERY GROWN PLANTS TRUE TO
GENUS, SPECIES, VARIETY, CULTIVARS, STEM FORM, SHEARING,
AND OTHER FEATURES INDICATED ON PLANT SCHEDULE WITH
HEALTHY ROOT SYSTEMS DEVELOPED BY TRANSPLANTING OR
ROOT PRUNING. PROVIDE WELL-SHAPED, FULL-BRANCHED,
HEALTHY, VIGOROUS STOCK, DENSELY FOLIATED WHEN IN LEAF
AND FREE OF DISEASE, PESTS, EGGS, LARVAE AND DEFECTS SUCH
AS KNOTS, SUN SCALD, INJURIES, ABRASIONS AND
DISFIGUREMENT.
6.PRUNING: PRUNE, THIN, AND SHAPE TREES, SHRUBS AND VINES AS
DIRECTED BY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT.
7.LABELING: LABEL AT LEAST ONE PLANT OF EACH VARIETY, SIZE,
AND CALIPER WITH A SECURELY ATTACHED, WATERPROOF TAG

8.IF FORMAL ARRANGEMENTS OR CONSECUTIVE ORDER OF PLANTS
IS INDICATED ON THE THE DRAWINGS, SELECT STOCK FOR
UNIFORM HEIGHT AND SPREAD, AND NUMBER THE LABELS TO
ASSURE SYMMETRY IN PLANTING.
HYDROSEED MATERIAL:
1.SEEDS TO BE DELIVERED TO THE JOB SITE IN UNOPENED BAGS
BEARING THE SEED SUPPLIER'S TAG SHOWING THE PROPORTIONS
AND MIX COMPONENTS OF THE SEED CONTAINED IN EACH BAG

MAINTENANCE SERVICE:
1.LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE MAINTENANCE BY
SKILLED EMPLOYEES OF LANDSCAPE INSTALLER AND MAINTAIN
THE PLANT MATERIAL, IRRIGATION SYSTEM AND KEEP PLANTED
AREAS WEED FREE. BEGIN MAINTENANCE IMMEDIATELY AFTER
PLANTS ARE INSTALLED AND CONTINUE UNTIL PLANTINGS ARE
ACCEPTABLY HEALTHY AND WELL ESTABLISHED AND
THROUGHOUT WARRANTY PERIOD.
WARRANTY:
1.INSTALLER AGREES TO REPAIR OR REPLACE PLANTINGS AND
ACCESSORIES THAT FAIL IN MATERIALS, WORKMANSHIP, OR
