CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION MEETING MINUTES
VIRTUAL AND IN PERSON
TUESDAY, July 1, 2025
Call to order: Mayor Pro -tem Joshua Crossman called the meeting to order at 6:00
PM
Roll Call: Joseph Richardson, Joshua Crossman, Stephanie Kangiser, Brian Hess,
David Johnstone, Terry Kaminski, and Joe DePinto.
Excused: Tracey Wood
Staff Present: City Administrator Todd Stancil, City Clerk Kathy Linnemeyer, Court
Administrator Sonia Ramirez, Police Chief Rob Carlson, and Public
Services Director Cody Colt
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Boys & Girls Club Presentation — Chief Executive Officer Shellica Trevino gave a
presentation on the Yelm Boys & Girls Club in Yelm. She shared information on
membership, programs, how they use the facility and a financial summary.
School Resource Officer Contract — Police Chief Rob Carlson reviewed the School Resource
Officer contract with the City Council and answered questions. The contract will come
before the City Council for action in July.
Passport Fair Recap— Court Administrator Sonia Ramirez gave a briefing of the first
Passport Fair.
Veterans Memorial Design Contract — Public Services Director Cody Colt spoke about the
Veterans Memorial Design contract and answered questions from the City Council.
MAYOR REPORT— Mayor DePinto has announced that the upcoming Study Session will
include a discussion on the logistics of future Study Sessions, building on the conversations
held during the recent retreat.
COUNCIL INITIATIVES
Brian Hess— Would like to see water stations installed around the city, small spaces turned
into pocket parks, expansion of Prairie Days and light pollution measures.
