YELM PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
June 17, 2024 – 4:00 PM
YELM CITY HALL
Bob Howard called the meeting to order at 4:02 pm.
Members present: Bob Howard, John Graver, Richard Lomsdale, and Anne Wahrmund.
Members Absent: Carlos Perez, David Johnstone, and Austin Walker.
Staff:Cody Colt, Gary Cooper,Chris Vaccaro, Andrew Kollar,andHazel Hooker.
Approval of Minutes: MOTION BY JOHN GRAVER, SECONDED BY ANNE WAHRMUND, TO
APPROVE THE MAY 20, 2024 MINUTES. ALL WERE IN FAVOR.
City Staff Communications: Gary Cooper, Planning and Building Manager, provided an update
on the habit conservation plan and the comprehensive plan, highlighting the ongoing work by
consultants.
Unfinished Business:None.
Public Comment: Wayne McCarten gave public comment concerning his property located
within the City of Yelm’s urban growth area, initiating a dialogue regarding a potential rezone.
Further discussions occurred with staff.
New Business:Drew Kollar, Assistant Planner,shared a first readingon potential code updates
to help solve development challenges within the Central Business District Zone. Further
discussion occurred between board members and staff.
Public Hearing: No public hearing held.
Subcommittee Reports:Anne Wahrmund, on behalf of the Parks Advisory Committee, shared
an updateon Prairie Days and the opening of the Prairie Line Trail.
Adjournment: ANNE WAHRMUND MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING, SECONDED BY
RICHARD LOMSDALE. ALL WERE IN FAVOR. THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 4:57 PM.
