YELM CITY HALL
Richard Lomsdale called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
Members present: Richard Lomsdale, Bob Howard, John Graver, Anne Wahrmund, David
Johnstone, and Dana Allen.
Members Absent: None.
Staff: Gary Cooper, Andrew Kollar, Clayton Webie, and Hazel Hooker.
Approval of Minutes: MOTION BY BOB HOWARD TO APPROVE MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY 10,
2025 SECONDED BY ANNE WAHRMUND.
City Staff Communications: Staff shares that a new Planning Commission member is expected
to be appointed by the mayor next week.
Public Comment: No audience members chose to address the commission at this time.
Unfinished Business: No unfinished business reported.
New Business:
Regional Transportation Plan Presentation by Alison Osterberg, Planning Manager at TRPC.
Presentation Overview
o TRPC's history and role in the community.
o Update of the Regional Transportation Plan every five years.
o Addressing the projected growth and resulting traffic in Yelm, including
strategies for mitigation.
o An emphasis on the interconnectivity of land use and transportation planning.
Community Engagement
o TRPC Draft RTP to be released for public comment, with comments accepted
through April and May, aiming for adoption by July.
Discussion Points
o Safety concerns regarding limited evacuation routes in the event of natural
disasters.
o Traffic congestion challenges linked not only to local development but also to
regional travel patterns.
Additional Matters
o Planning Commission meeting date proposal change to the third Tuesday of each month
to avoid conflicts with holidays. All members voted in favor of the change.

Parks Committee: Anne updated on the bridge expansion project in collaboration with Pierce
County.
Adjournment: MOTION TO ADJOURN MEETING MADE BY BOB HOWARD, AND SECONDED BY
JOHN GRAVER. MEETING ADJOURNED UNANIMOUSLY AT 4:58 PM.
