'elm „� •tr`'`\,� EST. ] 924 ' WASHINGTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES VIRTUAL AND IN PERSON TUESDAY, May 26, 2026 Call to Order: Mayor Joe DePinto called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Roll Call: Joseph Richardson, Griselda Arias, Stephanie Kangiser, Brian Hess, David Johnstone, Terry Kaminski and Mayor Joe DePinto. Excused: Tracey Wood Staff Present: City Administrator Todd Stancil, City Clerk Kathy Linnemeyer, and Public Services Director Cody Colt. APPROVAL OF THE Motion by Terry Kaminski to approve the agenda. AGENDA: Seconded by Brian Hess Motion carried 6-0 SPECIAL Mayor DePinto read the Military Appreciation Month Proclamation PRESENTATIONS: into the record. PUBLIC COMMENT: Valerie Pitts with Small Business Administration shared resources for businesses who had impacts due to December storms. CONSENT AGENDA: Motion by Stephanie Kangiser to approve the Consent Agenda. Seconded by Griselda Arias Motion carried 6-0 NEW BUSINESS: Confirmation of Appointment to the Arts Commission Motion by Griselda Arias to confirm Mayor DePinto's appointment of Catie Holstein to the Arts Commission. Seconded by Terry Kaminski Motion carried 6-0 Confirmation of Appointment to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee Motion by Griselda Arias to confirm Mayor DePinto's appointment of Amy Hutchins to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. Seconded by David Johnstone Motion carried 6-0 Confirmation of Appointment to the Parks Advisory Committee Motion by Terry Kaminski to confirm Mayor DePinto's appointment of Jordan Werner to the Parks Advisory Committee. Seconded by Joseph Richardson Motion carried 6-0 Confirmation of Appointment to the Planning Commission Motion by Joseph Richardson to confirm Mayor De Pinto's appointment of Riley Helean to the Planning Commission. Seconded by Griselda Arias Motion carried 6-0 STANDING COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS: Public Services Committee— Councilmember Richardson gave a report of the Public Services Committee meeting. General Government Committee — Councilmember Arias gave a report of the General Government Committee meeting. MAYOR/CITY ADMINISTRATOR/STAFF REPORTS: City Administrator —Gave department updates. Mayor Report —Thanked the Public Services Department for their work on the Community Clean up, attended the Thurston County Chamber Annual meeting, South Sound Military Partnership breakfast, Memorial Day ceremony at Joint Base Lewis McChord and the Memorial Day ceremony at Yelm City Park. He thanked the VFW and American Legion members who COUNCILMEMBER REPORTS: Councilmember Arias—Attended the South Thurston Economic Development Initiative (STEDI) meeting, Regional Housing Council meeting, and participated in the South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity Woman's Build. Councilmember Kangiser— Attended the Boys & Girls Club breakfast and the Memorial Day Service at Yelm City Park. She announced that Ann MacFarland with Jurassic Parliament will be retiring and she expressed Councilmember Hess—Attended the Intercity Transit meeting and expressed appreciation for the Public Services department Councilmember Johnstone—Attended the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Council meeting. Councilmember Kaminski — Participated in the South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity Woman's Build and the Nisqually River Council Annual Retreat.
