934 Inoculation Proof at LicensingCITY OF YELM ORDINANCE NO. 934 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF YELM AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 178 (2/75) AND CHAPTER 6.12 OF THE YELM MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO PROOF OF INOCULATION TO IMMUNIZE DOGS FROM THE DISEASE KNOWN AS RABIES. WHEREAS, the City desires to return lost dogs to their rightful owner prior to impound in the City animal control facility; and. WHEREAS, the City approved Resolution No. 490 (11/08) removing the license fee in order to encourage dog owners to register and license their dogs in the City; and WHEREAS, allowing licensing of dogs without showing proof of rabies inoculation at the time of licensing will make it easier for the owner to obtain a license tag; and WHEREAS, properly licensed dogs can be identified by an Animal Control Officer and returned to their owner; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Amend a certain section of the Yelm Municipal Code by adopting changes to the requirement of showing proof of the inoculation against rabies at the time of issuing a dog license. 6.12.010 AMEND Section 6.12.010. All dogs in the ~ewr} CSC of Yelm shall be inoculated to immunize such dogs from the disease known as rabies. The owner of each s~s# dog so inoculated shall cause said dog to wear a tag furnished by the veterinarian inoculating such dog, which tag shall indicate the place and date of such inoculation. The owner of each dog shall furnish proof satisfactorily to a Yelm Animal Control Officer of current rabies inoculation to immunize against rabies if reauested EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall take effect March 9, 2011.
