TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 2009
The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. Roll Call: Present; Joe Baker, Bob Isom, Mike McGowan, Pat Fetterly, John
Thompson and Russ Hendrickson. Don Miller was excused

5. Public Comment. There was no response to the Mayor's call for public
comment.
6. Consent Agenda
a. Minutes- Regular Council Meeting, February 24, 2009, Study Session, February
25, 2009.
b. Payables; Checks 50477-50538, Totaling 330,271.14
c. Payroll -February 2009 (03-05-09) checks 50431-50449, Totaling 157,781.53

PRESENTED. CARRIED.

10. Council and Mayor
Councilmember Isom attended Thurston Regional Planning Council and
announced the favored beneficiaries of the $5.6 million from the Transportation
Stimulus Bill Project List including; Chehalis Tribe, Tenino, Rainier, Lacey and
Tumwater. Projects must be "shovel ready" and not exceed the total amount in
the package.
He also reported that as Mayor pro-tem he signed an application letter for the
Neighborhood Stabilization Housing Assistance Project for Yelm.
Councilmember McGowan attended HOME Consortium and sub-committee
meeting where they continue to work on moving tenant assistance money into
Yelm based on the draft homeless count report.
Councilmember Thompson attended an interesting presentation by Michael
Cade from the TC Economic Development Council at the Chamber Forum. He
reported on continued healthy growth in Thurston County as compared to other
areas.

Mayor Harding spoke to students in Mr. Mark Bolden's Middle School classes
about local government and is working with the teacher to develop a course to
include mock Council meetings to work through issues of particular interest to
the students. Councilmember Isom volunteered to assist. Mayor Harding also
reported that he has plans to meet with baseball league organizers to discuss
their concerns addressed to Council as well as bring the Parks Rules back to the
Council at a future Study Session.

12. Correspondence included reminders to Council regarding Personal Financial
Affairs Statement filing deadline of April 15, 2009 and 2009 Election filing
deadline of June 5, 2009 for Positions 3, 4, 5 and 7; and the Mayor. Comcast
update on Channel 18 going digital and citizens: Steve Klein requesting that Bald
Hills Road be considered for addition to the STIP: and Bob Miller's letter
regarding the state of the economy.
