Low voltage wiring shall be furnished and installed by this Contractor. Line voltage wiring and conduit shall be furnished and installed by Electrical Contractor. This Contractor shall review all wiring connections which have any influence on Contractor’s equipment or work and verify that these connections are correct before permitting any equipment which is furnished, installed or modified under this contract to be operated. Motors required for operation of the HVAC equipment shall be furnished and installed under HVAC work. Magnetic starters with proper overload protection for motor controls shall be furnished under HVAC work for each motor 1/2 horsepower and larger and installed. FINISH AND PAINTING See Section on Painting and Finish. Prime and paint all diffuser boot and duct interiors where visible through grilles with a matte black finish. Prime and paint louver or grille exteriors where required by Owner. PART 2 - PRODUCTS DUCTWORK Galvanized sheet steel of thickness recommended in Table 1-4 and 3-2 of the SMACNA “HVAC Duct Construction Standards, latest Edition. Flexible ductwork shall be limited to runouts not to exceed 10'-0" in length. Insulate ducts with 2-inch thick fiberglass Manville “Linacoustic” installed with stick clips and adhesive as recommended by manufacturer. K factor = 0.12 at 75 degrees F. mean temperature with an NRC rating - R=8.4. Insulate concealed ducts with 3 inch fiberglass Manville Standard R faced duct wrap installed per manufacturer’s application specification. C=0.28 at 75 degrees F. mean temperature with 0.75 lb./cu.ft. density, R=10.0. All duct insulation shall be in conformance with in latest edition of the applicable Energy Code. PART 3 - EXECUTION DUCTWORK All ductwork of sheet metal or fiberglass shall be in accordance with the SMACNA “HVAC Duct Construction Standards, latest Edition. Duct work shall be airtight and smooth, of recommended construction, installed and supported as recommended. Should it be found impractical to install any duct of the exact size given, a duct of a different shape, but having the same air resistance, shall be installed. These alternate duct sizes are to be approved by the Engineer prior to installation. Duct sizes given are internal sizes, net inside dimensions, inside of linings. All elbows 45 degrees or greater shall be full radius elbows (centerline radius equal to duct width) or shall have turning vanes. End of ducts shall turn over 3/4 inch for airtight connections between duct and grilles. The ducts and grilles shall have separate sets of screws. Register frames and ends of ducts shall be properly placed before finishing is begun. All ducts shall be supported at 5-foot centers with 1-inch by 16 gauge straps for sheet metal ducts and 3-inches by 16 gauge for fiberglass. Seal joints and seams airtight. Provide volume control extractors or dampers at each branch take-off from main ducts or as noted on drawings. AIR BALANCING The complete air system shall be tested and balanced by installing contractor. Adjust all air flows to be within plus or minus 10 percent of specified. Prove the correct operation of all controls, dampers, heating stages, cooling stages, timers and thermostats. The installing contractor shall provide labor and materials as required to assist the balancing engineer in the performance of that work, including the installation of manual dampers where required to properly balance system. At the completion of the balancing operation, provide the Architect with three (3) copies of the Air Balance Data, in a bound booklet form, showing: Required CFM and actual measured CFM for each air outlet register, supply and return, each exhaust grille, minimum outside air at each AC-unit, and total CFM for each system. Static pressure across exhaust fans and AC-unit with filter. Temperature rise across heat exchanger for AC-unit. Temperature drop across cooling coil for AC-unit. CONTROLS A complete building control system shall be provided. System shall include all component required to provide occupant comfort in each room. See drawings for further data. INSTRUCTION BOOK The contractor shall provide the Owner with one (1) copy of complete written instructions in the operation of the various systems. The instructions shall be bound, in booklet form, and shall include pertinent information on the equipment with names of local suppliers and agents.
