The proposal s fo construct a 4,380 square foot building housigq a credit union along with a coffee house (a possible Future addition). Tha proposed project will coneact o gravity sanitary side se~mer to a STEP tank with the effluent from the tank pumped into [he existing pressure se~mer main in Yelm Avenue. The STEP system was deskgnetl following the City of Yelm Oevalcpment Guidelines (YDG) and the DOE "Cfitena for Sewage Works Design" (herein known ae the DOE Manual in this document). Per the Gity of Yelm specifications, the STEP tank shall pro~lde 24 hours of storage volume In fns tank as well as a power transfer switch with an emergency generator plug in case of power outages. 2.d S.LE.F. TANK S¢wc The sizing for (he STEP Tank system is In accordance with the Ctry of Yelm 6evelopment Guidelines- According to the DOE Manual, section C1 ?0.1.6F, the tanks must include Detention Voume, Working Volume, and Storage Volume. Detention Volums Is defned ae the volume From the boIIOm of the tank tc the lead pump "efP postfien, or Dasicehy the wet pool volume ai the tank. Per the DOE Manual (C?-?0?.63), the tle[anNon volume er !igvid volume of a STEP tank [ha[ serves a single-family home or smz11 business must egcal at least 950 gallons. For tanks that serve stmdpres wHD bigger wastewater discharge volumes, the reyuleed volume is 1.6 Gmea the aveage daily flow for residential and 2 times the average daily 41ow for commercial. The larger of these two volumes (950 gallons and 2 x average daily flow) was selected for the detention volume. Working Volume ie defined as the volume befween the pump "on" and pump "off' positions and shall be greater than the difference between the peak influent flow and the discharge of the STEP or gnntler pump over 15 minutes (peak flow dumfion). Storage Volume is defined as the volume between the pump'of(" pos3ion and the top of the tank. It shall be equal to or greater than the average dally low volume. Sae Appendix 8 for calculations. 2.1 Credit Union The Credit Union portion of the building will consist of a lobby, teller area, two offices, a break room, two restrooms, a Jantter's room, a mechanical room, and e vault. For determining the daily flow, only [he oooupanoies for the teller area and offices will be considered. These are listed in [hatable below: Credit Union Area Occupants Office (111) 1.2 Office (112) t.6 Tellers 83 To[ai 11.1 According to YOG Chep[er ], Table 2, the esilmatetl deify sewer flow for office workees (perahlft)is l5 gallons. See Appendlx6 for wloulatlons. 2.2 COf}ee {j01]Se The STEP tank has been sized considering the fu[:rte coffee house poriion of the building. This will consist of a benste area and a customer (saefing) area- The occupancies for these areas are shown below: Coffee House Area Occupants Harista 1.7 Seating 4g.5 Total 42 2 VDG Table 2 does not cover establisbmenis which mainly serve beverages, such as coffee houses. Therefore, the following assumptions were made 4or the seating and barista areas: For the seating area, the ebsest matcH in VDG Table 21s"Restaurants addfional for bare and oocmaii lounges" j2 gallons/person/day). Porcalculating the average daily flow, the cusierner count is assumed to be three times the occupancy of the sealing area (3 x 40.5= 1215). For the bensta area the estmated daily sewer listed for ofFlCe workers (S gallons) is conservaGVely assumed. Ses Appendix B (or calculations- 3.0 Puma For STEP tanks 1500 gallons or less, a simplex pump system can be used (YDG 1F.020). However, since this system is for a commercial building, a 20 gpm pump will bs regwrad. The Orenw Model P20 05 11 pump or approved equal (capable of Ueltvering 20 gpm against a TDH of 105' and with a shutoff head of nol less then 560 ehall be Installed. The working vclume required is the volume bom the pump OFF position to the pump ON position, and shall be 5reatar than the tliHerence between the peak lofluent flow end the discharge of the STEF over a pericd o! Itma estimated to be the peak duration whioh Is i5 minutes (DOE Manual Ci-10_L6C). See Appendix B for working volume calatlaiions. 4.0 SEW ER LINES A gravity side sewer conveys flow from tyre cleanout to the STEP'fank. A service lino conveys flaw to the force main in Yelm Avenue. Connection to the torte main will be via an existing sYUb-aut located on the lot northwest of the proposed pro)act lot This stud out will be converted to a double service connection (city of Yelm detail ]-2) In order to bring a service line to the credit unloa 4.1 Gravity Sitle Sewer The side sewer pipe size well be 6" per the Yeim standards 4.2 Service lines The service Me wlll be 1" is tllerneler from iha STEP tank le the tlouble service connectloo, then 2"in tliameter from the service conneciiao to [he force main in Yelm Avenue. S.O GREASE INTERCEPTOR Since Iha coNee house is a poasble future addifion, the grease interceptor has not bean sized at this lime. A grease interceptor stub has been spaciFed along with adequate space to allow for the irutalfa6on of a grease interceptor if it fs raqu!rad (see sheet C4 of the eonstnction plans). t~Pt'E~Y~I%.~ General Exhibits Project: America's Credit Union Yeim Branch ~acatian: 495 E Yeim Ave, Yeim 4'VA Vicinity dap Project: America's Credit Union Yelm Branch Location: 4i5 E Yelm Ave, Yelm VtlA Access®r'S ~agJ c'r,rx,su, ~~ ,.~,oya.ea ::,,.~o~o ~\ e,aodSM~ ~~a~ .~I'1'~IV~I~ I3 S.T.EP.
