Dear Mr. Anderson:
The petitions for annexation that you have submitted to annex property north of Coates Road into the City of Yelm are not sufficient pursuant to the statutory requirement to annex property,
being 60% of the owners of property within the proposed annexation area signing the petition to annex.
Specific issues included:
The properties owned by corporations or partnerships (Homeward Construction and Gilling-Graver LLC) need to include proof that the person signing the petition has the authority to sign
for the corporation or partnership.
Larry Johnson’s signature was determined to be invalid because he signed two or more times.
Several of the Petitions (Russell and Keena for example) did not include the signatures of all the owners of the property (a husband and wife both have to sign).
Some of the properties have changed ownership since the petitions were signed.
Based on the issues with these signatures, the 60% threshold was not achieved and the petition for annexation is not sufficient to be annexed into the City of Yelm.
If you wish to continue the attempt to annex this property into the City of Yelm, I have attached a new petition sheet for circulation, along with a current list of property owners within
the proposed annexation area.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the Community Development Department if you have any questions regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
Grant Beck, Director
Community Development Department
