Mr. Ward
The Community Development Department has reviewed your application for a business
license to operate the Lasting Touch Memorial & Cemetery Products at 711 Yelm
Avenue East. While the proposed use of the property is allowed, several items will
need your attention prior to operation of the business.
Specifically, the area you have fenced in the back of the property for storage of
headstones must be located entirely on property which your business is located and
may not cross property lines as it is currently laid out. Further, outdoor storage areas
must be effectively fenced and screened pursuant to Section 17.57.060 YMC.
Effectively screen is defined as an eight foot solid fence. Also please note that chain
link is not allowed in the mixed use design district pursuant to the City's design
guidelines.
Additionally, because the storage is located in the existing parking area, you will need to
provide a site plan that shows you will provide four parking stalls that comply with the
parking lot design standards as found in Chapter 17.72 YMC. Prior to operation the
parking spaces will need to be striped and signed as required by the Zoning Code.
If you have any questions regarding these requirements, please contact the Community
Development Department at 458-3835.
