Homeless Census stated that this Saturday there would be a canvassing of
the Yelm area to locate homeless individuals or those in need. This is done
annually to find out who is homeless and why they are homeless. They
will be attending the Lord's Table weekly dinner on Saturday night hosted
by the Crossroads Community Covenant Church at Four Corners. The last
census showed that people in Yelm were four times more likely to
homeless, based on job availability and affordable housing. One of the
other indicators looked at was the free and reduced lunch rates in the
public schools. Yelm has 40% of their students who received reduced or
free lunches. She is asking for the Council's support, partnership, and
involvement. The faith communities in Yelm do more per capita basis for
their community members who are in need, than any other part of
Thurston County. For a city the size of Yelm there are more food banks
and clothing banks available than any other community. Their goal is to
connect people in need with the resources available and use that
information so that the Home Consortium representative can support
