All buildings are going to be sprinkled with all FDC in the designated fire lane, will this work out o.k. or should we meet with the group and go over it? We are proposing to put all the FDC, PIV and fire sprinkler connections along the center drive aisle. This would make the center aisle traveling NE and SW the fire lane. All building sprinkler systems would be accessible from this location. We are proposing that all the buildings be sprinklered for fire protection. Would you take a look at the attachment and let me know if this works. Jim Gibson, PE Shea, Carr and Jewell Inc. 2102 Carriage Drive SW Bldg. We don’t want the fire trucks hooking up on the main arterials. There is enough room within the parking lot to make the connections work. This is the consensus of the group however there will be a need for the fire truck to have access. I hope this helps. Thank you. New Question: How close to a building will you let a water main be installed from the face of the building. I am proposing to install a FDC, fire hydrant and PIV between the Tahoma Blvd sidewalk and the back of Bldg B. I would propose to install the water main 6 feet off the face of building and it would terminate at the fire hydrant. If approved it would eliminate the need to have 25 ft turn radius to access the fire hydrant located in from of Bldg B. It will not longer be necessary for fire protection items because the fire truck would connect to them on Tahoma Blvd. Please see attachment and let me know what you and Smitty think.
