After our discussion on Friday about the driveways I drafted an example
for you to review. This is located at the midblock access on Tahoma
Blvd. I included the 25’ curb return radius and continued the sidewalk
thru the backside of the driveway apron. The sidewalk is still 5 feet
wide in the thru area and is sloped at 2.0% toward the roadway for
drainage purposes and ADA requirements. The actual driveway ramp has to
make up 0.3’ vertically over 5.5’ horizontally. This is 5.45% over 5.5
feet. The driveway area ends up being flush with the sidewalk 5.5 feet
behind the curb flow line. Is this what you had in mind? Based on
this design, the project would be required to replace 85’ of existing
10’ wide sidewalk and remove 2 street trees w/grates just for this
driveway access.
I did want to check on the requirement of the 25’ radius? The DG calls
out a radius of 15’. This is on 4-25 (table). It there another
location that I overlooked?
