Dear Edward Scheetz,
It has come to the City's attention on September 17, 2003, after an inspection was conduced on the fire
sprinkler control building located at 509 Rhoton Rd, that there was an illegal connection to the city's water
system. I observed a water faucet plumbed in the fire line between the gate valve and the double check
valve assembly that was not being metered for water usage.
On September 18, 2003, I talked to you about the issues that will need to be addressed to correct this
situation. The water meter serving your property needs to be turned on for water usage, a double check
valve assembly is requited at the water meter. Ali installations of back0ow assemblies are required to be
inspected by the City of Yelm water department and tested by a independent certified bxekflow assembly
tester. The City is providing a 60 calendar day timeline from this date to complete the installation of the
backfiow assembly.
In the fire system control building, the water faucet plumbed from the fire line, needs to be discontinued
from usage and plugged, effective immediately. The double check valve assemblies for the fire line, last
tested in 1997, are to be tested by a independent certified backflow assembly tester within 30 calendar days
of today's date, to stay complaint with Washington State regulation WAC 246- 290 -490. A copy of the
test need to be provided to the City of Yelat water department as soon as received.
1 will be in regular contact with you throughout this process should you have any question; In the
meantime, please feel free to call me at (360) 458-8406.
Sincerely,
City of Yelm
