SILT FENCE:
1. FILTER FABRIC SHALL BE PURCHASED IN A CONTINUOUS ROLL CUT TO THE LENGTH OF
THE BARRIER TO AVOID USE OF JOINTS. WHEN JOINTS ARE NECESSARY, FILTER CLOTH
SHALL BE SPLICED TOGETHER ONLY AT A SUPPORT POST, WITH A MINIMUM 6 -INCH
OVERLAP, AND SECURELY FASTENED AT BOTH ENDS TO POST.
2. POSTS SHALL BE SPACED A MAXIMUM OF 6 FEET APART AND DRIVEN SECURELY INTO THE
GROUND (MINIMUM OF 30 INCHES).
3. A TRENCH SHALL BE EXCAVATED APPROXIMATELY 8 INCHES WIDE AND 12 INCHES DEEP
ALONG THE LINE OF POSTS AND UPSLOPE FROM THE BARRIER.
4. WHEN STANDARD STRENGTH FILTER FABRIC IS USED, A WIRE MESH SUPPORT FENCE SHALL
BE FASTENED SECURELY TO THE UPSLOPE SIDE OF THE POSTS USING HEAVY -DUTY WIRE
STAPLES AT LEAST 1 INCH LONG, TIE WIRES OR HOG RINGS. THE WIRE SHALL EXTEND INTO
THE TRENCH A MINIMUM OF 4 INCHES AND SHALL NOT EXTEND MORE THAN 36 INCHES
ABOVE THE ORIGINAL GROUND SURFACE.
5. THE STANDARD STRENGTH FILTER FABRIC SHALL BE STAPLED OR WIRED TO THE FENCE,
AND 20 INCHES OF THE FABRIC SHALL BE EXTENDED INTO THE TRENCH. THE FABRIC
SHALL NOT EXTEND MORE THAN 36 INCHES ABOVE THE ORIGINAL GROUND SURFACE.
FILTER FABRIC SHALL NOT BE STAPLED TO EXISTING TREES.
6. WHEN EXTRA - STRENGTH FILTER FABRIC AND CLOSER POST SPACING IS USED, THE WIRE
MESH SUPPORT FENCE MAY BE ELIMINATED. IN SUCH A CASE, THE FILTER FABRIC IS
STAPLED OR WIRED DIRECTLY TO THE POSTS WITH ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF ABOVE
NOTES APPLYING.
7. FILTER FABRIC FENCES SHALL NOT BE REMOVED BEFORE THE UPSLOPE AREA HAS BEEN
PERMANENTLY STABILIZED.
8. FILTER FABRIC FENCES SHALL BE INSPECTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER EACH RAINFALL AND AT
LEAST DAILY DURING PROLONGED RAINFALL. ANY REQUIRED REPAIRS SHALL BE MADE
IMMEDIATELY.
TRAINGULAR SEDIMENT FILTER DIKES:
1. IF THE SLOPE EXCEEDS 10 PERCENT, THE LENGTH OF THE SLOPE ABOVE THE DIKE SHALL
BE LESS THAN 50 FEET.
2. ALL DIKES SHALL BE PLACED ON THE CONTOUR AND SHALL BE PLACED IN A ROW WITH
THE ENDS TIGHTLY ABUTTING THE ADJACENT DIKE. FILTER MATERIAL SHALL LAP OVER
ENDS 6 INCHES TO COVER DIKE TO DIKE JUNCTION; EACH JUNC11ON SHALL BE SECURED
BY SHOAT RINGS.
3. IN GENERAL, EACH SIDE OF THE TRIANGLE SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 18 INCHES.
4. NONWOVEN POLYPROPYLENE, POLYETHYLENE OR POLYAMIDE GEOTEXTILE FABRIC MAY BE

THE FABRIC; THE SKIRT SHALL BE A CONTINUOUS EXTENSION OF THE UPSTREAM FACE,

1. PLACE CONCRETE BLOCKS LENGTHWISE ON THEIR SIDES IN A SINGLE ROW AROUND THE
PERIMETER OF THE INLET, SO THAT THE OPEN ENDS FACE OUTWARD, NOT UPWARD. THE

2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL IN ACCORDANCE
WITH MUTCD. PRIOR TO DISRUPTION OF ANY TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS SHALL BE
PREPARED AND SUBMITTED TO THE CITY FOR APPROVAL. NO WORK SHALL COMMENCE

VERTICAL EDGE AND TACKED WITH ASPHALT EMULSION TYPE CSS -1 IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. THE NEW ASPHALT SHALL BE FEATHERED BACK OVER
EXISTING TO PROVIDE A SEAL AT THE SAW CUT LOCATION AND THE JOINT SEALED WITH
GRADE AR -4000W PAVING ASPHALT.
5. COMPACTION OF SUBGRADE, ROCK, AND ASPHALT SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
6. SUBGRADE INSPECTION SHALL BE PERFORMED BY AN APPROVED TESTING FIRM AND
FORMS SHALL BE INSPECTED FOR LINE AND GRADE BY AN ENGINEER BEFORE POURING

SANITARY SEWER NOTES:
1. ALL WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIAL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CITY OF YELM STANDARDS AND THE MOST CURRENT COPY OF THE
STATE OF WASHINGTON STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD,
BRIDGE AND MUNICIPAL CONSTRUCTION (WSDOT/ APWA).
2. ALL APPROVALS AND PERMITS REQUIRED BY THE CITY OF YELM
SHALL BE OBTAINED BY THE CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO THE START OF
CONSTRUCTION.
3. IF CONSTRUCTION IS TO TAKE PLACE IN THE COUNTY
RIGHT -OF -WAY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE COUNTY AND
OBTAIN ALL THE REQUIRED APPROVALS AND PERMITS.
4. A PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING SHALL BE HELD WITH THE CITY OF
YELM PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.

ADVANCE OF A TAP CONNECTION TO AN EXISTING MAIN. A CITY
REPRESENTATIVE SHALL BE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE TAP.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LOCATION
AND PROTECTION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL VERIFY ALL UTILITY LOCATIONS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION BY
CALLING THE UNDERGROUND LOCATE LINE AT 1- 800 -424 -5555 A
MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY EXCAVATION.
7. SIDE SEWER SERVICES SHALL BE PVC, ASTM D 3034 SDR 35 WITH

CONTINUOUS TRACER TAPE INSTALLED 12" TO 18" UNDER THE
PROPOSED FINISHED SUBGRADE. THE MARKER SHALL BE PLASTIC
NON - BIODEGRADABLE, METAL CORE OR BACKING MARKED SEWER
WHICH CAN BE DETECTED BY A STANDARD METAL DETECTOR. IN
ADDITION, STEP SYSTEMS, AND FORCE MAINS SHALL BE INSTALLED
WITH A 14 GAUGE DIRECT -BURY RATED COPPER WIRE WRAPPED

CONTINUOUS TRACER TAPE INSTALLED 12" ABOVE THE BURIED
POWER. THE MARKER SHALL BE PLASTIC NON- BIODEGRADABLE,

14. AFTER COMPLETION OF ALL ITEMS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS AND
