Prepared by: Washington Forestry Consultants, Inc. Date: January 16, 2013 I We have completed an evaluation of the street trees that were planted for the McKenzie Meadows development. The request was made by Washington Federal. The purpose was to provide assessment of the trees and make recommendations for cultural care, or removal and replacement. This will be a brief summary report in lieu of a formal report. Findin�s and Recommendations Our evaluation found 73 street trees that were planted in the McKenzie Meadows development (Appendix I). There were five species of trees planted on the site. The most common species is ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba). The other species include Bowhall I maple (Acer rubrum 'Bowhall�, ash (Fraxinus spp.), hawthorn (Crataegus spp.), maple (Acer spp.) and crabapple (Malus spp.). All but one of the trees is in fair or better condition and need no arboricultural work. Tree#70, a flowering crabapple, has a damaged stem that cannot be corrected by pruning and needs to be replaced. Five trees need to have their stakes and support ties removed before the tie cuts into the tree stem. The table in Appendix II includes a list of all planted street trees in the McKenzie Meadows development. Trees needing removal or their support ties removed were marked with an orange ribbon with the tree number written on it. Photos of 2 trees are included in Appendix III. One tree was damaged beyond repair that needs to be removed and replaced. There were five trees that need to have stakes and ties removed from their stem before they damage the trees.
