SEGA Engineers has provided structural engineering including lateral loads analysis,
shear wall design, and framing calculations for the subject project. We have been asked
to review the upper floor framing plan prepared by SCA Design Build where the 2x joists
are shown with mid-span blocking. Section 2308 of IBC09 does not require mid-span
blocking for joists when the nominal depth-to-thickness ratio does not exceed 6:1 and
we take no exception to this.
