Subject: Response
to Comments for Review #4
Dear Sir/Madam:
This letter is in regards to the sewer department comments emailed to Sound Engineering by Karen Bennett on July 26, 2010 (the comments were
provided in PDF document " 20070404 Sewer Cmt #4 072110.pdf."
1. No Diatomaceous Earth Residue into tank, otherwise property owner solely responsible for pumping costs to tank. No
more than 10 gpm pumped out of swimming pool at any one time.
The following note has been added to sheet C19 (S.T.E.P. Sewer Plan):
POOL NOTE
NO DIATOMACEOUS EARTH RESIDUE TO BE WASHED
INTO STEP TANK, OTHERWISE PROPERTY OWNER IS
SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR TANK PUMPING COSTS.
NO MORE THAN 10 GPM SHALL BE PUMPED OUT
OF THE POOL AT ANY TIME.
2. Grease Trap issue for
commercial buildings does not appear to be adequately addressed.
As stated in the STEP report, the occupancies of the commercial buildings have not been determined yet. To accommodate
grease interceptors for restaurant occupancies, the gravity side sewers for the commercial buildings have been laid out in a manifold configuration, with each building space having its
own side sewer stub and grease interceptor stub (please refer
sheet C19 of the construction plans). Adequate space has been provided to allow for the installation of a grease interceptor at each retail space as required once the occupancy types
have been determined. To indicate that grease interceptors are required for restaurant occupancies and that they are owned and maintained by the property owner, we have added the following
note on sheet C19 (S.T.E.P. Sewer Plan):
GREASE INTERCEPTOR NOTE
RESTAURANT OCCUPANCIES ARE REQUIRED TO
HAVE GREASE INTERCEPTORS INSTALLED. THE
INTERCEPTORS ARE TO BE OWNED AND MAINTAINED
BY THE PROPERTY OWNER.
3. Prior to ordering tanks, submittal for all step tanks / system appurtenances shall be submitted to Yelm Sewer Department for approval by contractor / engineers.
The
following note has been added to sheet C19 (S.T.E.P. Sewer Plan):
STEP TANK APPROVAL NOTE
PRIOR TO ORDERING TANKS, SUBMITTAL FOR ALL
STEP TANKS / SYSTEM APPURTENANCES SHALL BE
SUBMITTED
TO THE YELM SEWER DEPARTMENT FOR
APPROVAL BY CONTRACTOR / ENGINEERS.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions or comments regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
Timothy
D. Holderman, P.E.
