YELM CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8,2003
1. Call to Order. Mayor Rivas called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
2. Roll Call. Present: Don Miller, John Thompson, Bob Isom and Ron Harding
Excused: Pat Fetterly
3. Agenda Approval.
03-85 MOTION BY BOB ISOM SECONDED BY RON HARDING APPROVING THE
AGENDA AS PRESENTED. CARRIED.
4. Special Presentations. Stephanie Conners announced upcoming public
meetings to be held at the Public Works Facility. On October 15, from 6-8 p.m.
an Open House will provide an opportunity for the community to comment on
the proposed new (potable) Water Tower and Reclaimed Water Tank and
locations. On October 29th from 10:30 - 12:00 and again from 6:00 - 7:30 staff
will be available to discuss requirements for high hazard cross connection.
5. Public Comment. Mayor Rivas welcomed Yelm High Students Danielle
DeLaVerghe and Lindsey Scharmach. Councilmembers and Mayor Rivas
responded to the students questions concerning traffic levels on Yelm
Avenue.
6. Consent Agenda.

b. Payables: Checks 21023 - 21171 totaling $150,353.13

Council member Miller attended a Fire District Meeting that included
discussion concerning sprinkler systems.

Councilmember Thompson attended a SWAC meeting where a rate increase
was discussed and reported that ten tons of household hazardous waste was
collected in the most recent collection program, and an EDC meeting where
discussion concerned an upcoming study of high-speed broadband services in
Lacey
Council member Isom attended a TRPC meeting where the 20 year plan was
reviewed.
Councilmember Harding attended a TIB meeting that also reviewed the 20
year plan and an IT meeting where a new full-time position was approved.
