Steven J Craig owns the building located at 102 Yelm Avenue East, identified by Assessor's Tax Parcel Number 64400600900. 2. The property is one story commercial building, used as a performance theater. The existing building known as the H L Wolf Building, was constructed in 1924 following the fire which destroyed most of Yelm's downtown. The property sits prominently on the NE corner of Yelm Avenue and First Street. 3. The H L Wolf Building was the first building placed on the Historical Register. As part of the approval process four exterior features are listed as significant to the historic nature of the building: Exterior significant Features • Stucco and brick veneer exterior wall surfaces • Flat roof type • Unique curvilinear roof ( upper slopes have geometric curves) • Tudor Arch window design 4. On March 4, 2015 Jayne Cameron Presented to the Yelm Historical Commission her proposal for signage at the Triad Theater. After general discussion she withdrew her application temporarily until she and the owner worked out the details of sign placement. 5. At the end of July the City of Yelm was informed that the Triad Theater wished to proceed with the sign application. 6. Review of the sign application was scheduled for the September 2, 2015 meeting. No representatives of the owner or theater appeared at the meeting. 7. The theaters application dated February 4, 2015 for sign two signs on the South and West walls were reviewed for historical appropriateness. October 1, 2015 Page 1 of 2 Conclusions of Law 1. Section 18.63.030 YMC Prior to the commencement of any work on a register property (excluding ordinary repair and maintenance and emergency measures), the owner must request and receive a certificate of appropriateness, or request removal from the register from the Yelm Historic Preservation Commission pursuant to YMC 18.15.060 and 18.15.070. Decision The Yelm Historic Preservation Commission pursuant to YMC 18.15.060 and 18.15.070 reviewed the sign permit application by Cameron Jayne of the Triad Theater. The request for the 4x8 Marquee of Events sign (see figure 1) was deemed appropriate and approved for use on the building. The mural option (see figure 2) was deemed inappropriate and not approved at this time for use on the building.
