I am hereby notifying you per Chapter 1 of the International Building Code (IBC),
Section 116, Unsafe Structures and Equipment, that your building parcel number
64400800100, located at 201 Yelm Avenue East is in an unsafe structural condition
and is creating a nuisance by discharging rainwater onto the public way.
The December 11th windstorm of 2014 damaged the south parapet wall of the ramp
at the SW corner of your building. The described damage left the north and the west
wall without the support of the south wall. The wind damage further removed
gutter and downspouts.
To mitigate the unsafe condition I am requiring you within 48 hours of receipt of
this letter to secure the door and the landing to prevent access to the overhang.
Secondly I requiring you to temporarily secure the wall to the building to prevent
further collapse and lastly install measures to direct the rainwater onto your
property.
Upon completion of the above requirements within 7 working days you will submit
to the Yelm Building Department for review a demolition plan or a plan to restore
the wall to a structurally safe condition. Thank you.
Sincerely
Gary Carlson
