20" day of July of 2014.
The original approval dated May 17, 2014 reviewed the attached markup of the full page site plan from
Tahoma Meadow builder. In addition, the approved form made comments as follows: As per site plan,
the hoop will be set on the inside sidewalk area. Secure hoop to pad to eliminate damage to
neighboring parked cars.
The proposal stated it would use a 2A x 3A slab of concrete that match the driveway.
The Public Right of Way for this area of Yelm includes the ten feet from the street curb toward the
house. Should you have a sidewalk that would include the sidewalk. For those that do not have a
sidewalk that area still remains the Public right of way. This means the Association cannot approve any
proposal in includes alterations of this area. In addition, the City of Yelm Community Improvement
office will not give permits for any building in this area of our front lawns.
In addition please find a findings of the board dated May 21, of 2013 for reasons the board will not
encourage placement of basket ball hoop to face the street. You are receiving this clarification because
one or more members of Tahoma Terra Residential Association advised the board that approval could
be granted for this project. Please be a good neighbor and consider your neighbors on this subject. All
responsibilities remain with the Home Owner as to laws of the City and State including any damages
that may occur due to the negligent of the Home Owners.

Official word from Board after consideration after interviews with City of Yelm Planning Office, Police
Department, CCR Committee and other Board Advisors of Tahoma Terra Residential Association:
Basketball hoops left out when not in use will continue to be cited as a compliance issue. Residents that
would like to ask permission for semi - permanent placement in resident's drive way will be reviewed and
addressed per item. However, the Hoop may not be placed in the Public Right of Way as only the City of
Yelm can give permission for this area. In addition, semi - permanent requests will not consider any
hoops that face the street as this is considered by the City of Yelm to create a dangerous situation as
well as is in a Public Right of Way . Streets not designed or intended for recreational use. Streets
intended for vehicles, garbage trucks, moving trucks, work trucks, delivery vans and emergency
vehicles. This is not a safe place for children. This does not mean children will not on occasion be in the
street so do be careful and this is why the "Drive Slowly - Children Playing" signs were installed. And do
keep the sidewalks unobstructed so that the younger children can ride or walk down a safe place.
Both the HOA and the City of Yelm receive regularly complaints about groups "not moving out the way
of motorists" or of fearful residents that they may hit a child. Officials are perplexed by these
complaints and recognize this as a common problem. Being a good neighbor is number one for all of us;
however, children's safety must remain our number one priority. So please do teach your children to be
careful.
This HOA is currently seeking members to a "Play Ground Equipment Committee" for possible locations
for placement of basketball hoops and other playground equipment. They will research and learn about
the various requirements related to this HOA as a part of the City of Yelm, Public ROW and Open Parks.
There will be lots of work to gather support for and advise as to what the majority of the community
would like to see added.
