On May 21, 2013 the City of Yelm Advised you that keeping chickens as pets was allowed as long as they were pets and did not become nuisance. A public nuisance is defined as: "Public nuisance" and "nuisance" each mean and consist of doing an unlawful act, or omitting to perform a duty, or suffering or permitting any condition or thing to be or exist, which act, omission, condition or thing either: 1. Unreasonably injures or endangers the comfort, repose, health or safety of others; or 2. Offends public decency; or 3. Is offensive to the senses of reasonable persons, or use of property. (Ord. 415 § 2, 1991; Ord. 213 § 10(6)(1), 1977 The City of Yelm has received complaints from your neighbors regarding the upkeep of your property regarding the filth, odor and pestilence created by chickens in a residential neighborhood. Within the next 15 days upon receipt of this letter please remove said chickens and clean or remove structures associated with their keeping. Also noted was that the Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions for the subdivision of Vista View do not allow for pets other than cats and dogs. If I can further clarify the situation, please contact me at 360- 458 -8407 or at garyc @ci.yelm.wa.us. Thank you. 1._- - Gary Carlson Building Official
