Re: Vehicle Transport/Disposal Addendum
Dear Mr. Rogers:
The Community Development Department is unable to sign the Vehicle Transport/Disposal
Addendum for zoning certification to operate a registered tow truck operator, and scrap
processor business from your office location at 109 93 d Street in Yelm.
As discussed previously the site is zoned C -1 Commercial, Section 17.26 of the Yelm
Municipal Code (YMC). This zone allows for the location of business offices. When you
applied for your City business license, we discussed in detail that you would use the
location for your business office and that you would be parking your business vehicles
there, but you would not be bringing any materials on -site.
In our discussions, I was very clear informing you that the operation of any auto wrecking or
junk yard, recycling, salvage, or the storage of hauled materials and/or vehicles was
prohibited in the commercial zones, Sections 17.26.035 and 17.27.030 YMC. This use is
expressly allowed in the Industrial zone, Section 17.40.020(3)(k) YMC.
An appeal of this decision can be filed within 14 days from the date of this letter, pursuant to
YMC Chapter 15.49, Integrated Project Review Process. Any appeal must be in writing,
contain specific factual objections, and include the appeal fee of $50.00
